Healthcare Reform: Good intentions, Bad idea

I found an article in a search for understanding of the ramifications of Obamacare. Here is an excerpt:

…in the Senate bill, Medicaid expansion would be responsible for about 50 percent of the reduction in the uninsured population at a projected 10-year cost of $395 billion.

This approach was already tried in Tennessee. Under the TennCare program, uninsured Tennesseans were eligible to sign up for Medicaid. In addition, TennCare also enrolled individuals who were uninsurable because of pre-existing conditions and individuals not eligible for insurance through either place of employment or government.

The idea was that the state would squeeze savings out of its traditional Medicaid program through the use of managed care and this would offset the cost of this vast expansion in coverage. In essence, Tennessee officials promised a free lunch—a way to expand insurance coverage without increasing costs to the state.

Cost Explosion

Within months of the implementation of TennCare, enrollment swelled by half a million individuals so that more than a quarter of the state’s population was enrolled. While there was significant crowd-out of private insurance by government insurance—and thus increased burden on the taxpayers—the rate of uninsured individuals in Tennessee dropped substantially.

But at the same time, costs exploded. While inflation-adjusted per capita Medicaid spending across the rest of the states increased an average of 71 percent between 1994 and 2004, the corresponding increase in spending on TennCare was 146 percent. Tennessee’s Democratic Governor Phil Bredesen was forced to restructure TennCare dramatically beginning in 2004, calling the program “a disaster,” and stating he would not “let TennCare bankrupt our state.” http://www.heritage.org/Research/Reports/2010/03/Obamas-Proposed-Medicaid-Expansion-Lessons-from-TennCare#_ftn3
This is what we are in for. Some say he’s trying to help the downtrodden. I think it is more sinister. I think it is a continuation of the Marxist Praxis that has been implemented in the country. if so, this healthcare takeover is necessary for the transformation of America into a, At best, a European style socialist state, at worst, a Marxist state. Don’t say it can’t happen; look at what happened in Germany.

Aaaah, what do I Know. Here, read about it yourself: http://www.discernment-ministries.org/TheAspenPaper.pdf

If you are more than a blathering ideologue, you will read and think.

If you are more than a blathering ideologue, you will find out about these people that put this together.

But if your not, you will have some cute one-liner to spew as a comment and you’ll jump to another blog where you can scan and get the gist of the story and spew another one-liner. Your choice isn’t it?

At least you have a choice, for now.

TARP, Brace Yourself For More!!

March 2, 2010 in Spending it like it grows on trees, What can you do? by cvlambson

Now we’re getting the real story of the tarp legislation. Here’s an example: Higher education in Missouri lamentsa 5.2% cut, because now they wonder what will happen when the stimulus money runs out next year.

Analyze that for a moment. Let that ferment in your brain. What did they say? They fear when tarp runs out, because  they don’t know what they will do.

So, are you saying that, actually, the stimulus didn’t stimulate. Sure, it saved some jobs. How could you give away billions upon billions and not give somebody some work. That’s not the problem. It may have saved a few jobs for a year, but then the money will be gone, without real growth from industry, Industry was not stimulated. the income streams coming into the schools will not have increased, and the government will have to spend the same amount on another stimulus to keep it going. You saw 15 billion dollars more in a “jobs ” bill this last week.

I think of TARP as, buying consumables on your credit card. When you eat the food its gone, but the bill still remains and you still have to go buy more food. It’s a double whammy.

I have asked the question all along, what will happen when the stimulus money is gone? Will the government go back to spending what it did pre-stimulus or will we need to spend the same amount just to keep the appearance of money flowing and the appearance of the economic stabilization façade standing upright?

You have been duped, those of you who believed that TARP was really to “help” the economy, “stimulate” the economy. TARP and the policies of the last two years of bailouts, handouts, and out and out bribes is the biggest expansion of government in our history. It was not meant to stimulate the economy. It was to grow government, plain and simple.

And now the organizations that got the money, look forward and go, “holy crap, we are worse off than we were before”.

Now what America. Trillions more debt, no new jobs, and millions people that want to keep the government giving going, so they can keep their jobs.

What will be the response of the Obama Administration next year? Won’t they have to give out billions more in stimulus to keep the boat with the holes afloat. Where will the money come from?

We Have The life We Sowed

Edward Goldsmith believed that the needs of the community should be fulfilled in the communities, not in some huge conglomerate metropolitan area. I don’t agree with him on most things but here I must acquiesce and agree. Living in the Midwest, I see how nice that would be to still have the general store and bakery etc. in our little towns. It was the ease at which we could pick up and go to another, bigger town with more exciting things to do that put us in our cars and off we went leaving our small towns behind. This is one of the reasons why  the small town businesses dried up, not because the car was invented. People chose to go off to a bigger place instead of supporting their local area businesses. they selfishly desired to go be amused, rather than stay home and live a simple life.

This change of attitude, this feeling that we had to have more and better and bigger is not capitalism’s fault it is our misplaced priorities.

So, now you are going to tell me that big brother needs to come in a and fix that. De-develop our nation so we are less industrialized? NO, no no!!! We as a people have to prioritize our lives and let the family be the center. Do without if need be, so we can stay home and be with , care for, raise right,  and tutor wisely our children. Don’t blame this on someone else. We have created spoiled, bored children. we have allowed the TV and game system to babysit and teach them their social skills. we have sent them off to school and expected the teachers to raise them instead of being parents ourselves.  I too have been there with you. Thus My oldfashionedlife.com began and we are here on five acres trying to build the life my grandfather had.

Sadly, we are still trying to hold on to the rat race and finding it difficult to have a simple life. the pull of  materialism is strong and we are far from being released from its grasp. Conservative to me means that we are champions of personal responsibility in all  areas of our lives, even in the area of entertainment. How long has it been since we went outside and threw the football with our son, or had a party with our little girl and her dolls. It’s been too long hasn’t it? How long since we roasted hot dogs on a fire, had hobo (tin foil) dinners, ate smores and watched the stars, turned off the TV and read a book, played a board game, watched a home made puppet show, had a conference call with all the kids and our parents.

All these technologies available today were to give us freedom. Have they done so for our families, or have they separated us from each other? Have they allowed us more time together or have the technologies become our constant companion and distraction from the most important things in our lives?

Our affluence gives us more money for lessons and sports but has that affluence increased the quality of our family relations. If so, you have been a wise steward of your lives. If not, then today is the time to get an old-fashioned family and G_d centered life.

Democratic Republic or PIG FARM

September 25, 2009 in By Their Fruits, Progressive Philosophy, Uncategorized by cvlambson

Well, well, well It’s been a year now. The historical Obama presidency. First he went after those rascal executives for getting bonuses beyond what he and his illustrious staff deemed necessary. Woo hoo. I am hoping that he goes after Professional athletes so I can better afford to go to a game here and there. After all, it’s a stupid game, How dare they get that kind of money. They need to share with us all, right? We could tax them more and give it back as a rebate on tickets Or something.

And while I think about it, I am tired of seeing those nice trucks here in Iowa. Why do those farmers need those new trucks; they just get beat up. And since we subsidize farming, we should have a say on how expensive a vehicle they can buy, Right?

I don’t see why so many people are worried about losing their freedom, if we are all fed, clothed, housed, and taken care of medically, wouldn’t that be a great life? No worries right?

We won’t have to worry about any babies dying because mothers will get the care they need. We can selectively minimize negative populations through planned parenthood.

Kids will come to school able to read, and fed. We won’t have to worry about failing because no one will be allowed to fail. There will be no divisive competition, which encourages us to be be better than someone else, tocreate tension.

We won’t have to worry about: young people sacrificing to find a way to get their schooling paid for.

Young married couples won’t have to save for years to get a house and if the couple can’t afford the mortgage, government will make the banks fix the problem. And if those banks get in trouble, oh that’s right they won’t get in trouble because they will be run by the government. I think ole Hugo Chavez has done that and it seems to be working well. Ask Sean Penn. He was down there at some conference heaping praises on our close dictator friend.

Old people won’t have to worry about how they will spend their last years. The government wisely will set up a system that will make sure the people that need care will get It, so others who would put a strain on the system can be allowed to go the way of all the earth peacefullly and early. I am sure we all will live happily ever after. YEA!!!

I see this situation every day as I go home It’s awesome. It’s called a pig farm.

Back With a Vengeance

What are you going to do, conservatives both social and fiscal? What are you going to do, Americans that think the United States  is the greatest country in the world and that our democratic republic is a sound infrastructure for our future, that our constitution has been battered but remains the hear t and soul of our nation.

President Obama has burst onto the world stage. How do you feel?

knowing that:

* an American president doesn’t like our national anthem,

* wont put his hand over his heart,

* is the most liberal of all legislators,

* has so many foreign individuals and entities around him,

* has created 30 plus unvetted  czars around him

* has duel citizenship,

* probably was born in Kenya,

* sat in a black liberation theology church for 20 years  and listened while Mr. Wriight  preached against this republic and its white greedy government that he believes is damned of God,

*had as a mentor a life long comunist, pornographer,  pedophile,

* has close ties to radical America-hating men such as Mr Ayers a non repentant terrorist,

* says the way to solve the energy crisis is to cut our consumption rather than provide for our needs,

* has as chief financial advisor the former head of Freddie Mac,

* was fundraised for, by now indicted, Slum lord Rezco of Chicago, as well as the go to guy for a Saudi prince,

* has publicly written nothing other than two memoirs that have believed to be written by the terrorist Ayers,

* has called you bigots, racists, and foolish religious finatics.

* and the list goes on

*Has communists and socialists in his cabinet and as advisors

Freedom as you know it is about to change!!!

This is a Marxist, a pawn of the ultra left.

Will you rise with me and gather people who believe like you do; talk to them, encourage them, even take them to the tea parties, take them to town halls, take them to the polls, so that this country will not be overrun by this anti-business, anti-progress, anti-gun Anti-Christian, anti-American coup that is being perpetrated on the American people by this fraud and his liberal ilk.

We better get to work. We don’t have much time. Read those Bibles. Say those prayers, and let this generation of freedom loving Americans arise from off their complacent derriers and to the occasion in order to stop this national threat.

This is that time of this generation when we are needed to fight for our freedom like generation of the past has done.

A Rabble Rouser

When you study under the tutelage of riff-raff, you learn how to act like riff raff. When you study under respectful, law-abiding people with character, you learn how to be such a person.

I wonder how many “decent” people that President Obama has been tutored by?

Given his associations with terrorists (Ayers and the weather underground), and hate mongering pastors (Reverend Wright), and don’t forget his study of the tactics of Saul Linskey, the type of ”change” that he is bringing to Washington probably seems perfectly normal to him.

My fellow Americans. It is up to us to help him understand that this kind of bullying behavior gets you sent to the principles office, gets you arrested, makes you a public nuisance. Which is what his philosophy of the “community organizer” is all about. It stems from the idea that the, “squeeky wheel gets the grease”.

In his little, selfish, anti-establishment, let’s get the man world, it is normal, even lauded. You make a stink, somebody notices and then maybe you can scream loud enough that people will want you to shutup, so they will address the issue you are screaming about to get you to disappear. It’s like a kid throwing a tantrum in the grocery store. They kn ow that you are going to do what they ask because you want to stop the screaming. My kids did the same thing until they learned that when they got home they got spanked and lost their privileges. Of course that would be too barbaric for today’s acquiescing parents that think they can reason with a three year old and are too full of themselves to realize they are getting played by that three year old.

So, while the Obama administration seems to be honorably dealing with the made up swine/Mexican flu, he plays slight of hand with other issues: Gun control, the gaffe with the vouchers in DC schools that are working, the medical research funding that he is planning to boost from 4.7 billion to 429 billion dollars, the closing of tax shelters for the nations wealthy, Supreme Court nominees to change the balance of power to the libs and set a precedent that does not rely on the constitution and the rule of law but on feelings and compassion(see my blog on that issue), downplaying the national day of prayer, ramming his socialist, yea even Marxist, plan for America down our throats while we are covering our self-absorbed noses about the lie of a swine flu epidemic.

For Pete’s sake Americans, the flu virus kills 35000 people a year in this country and we have a vaccine every year.

You better be keeping an eye on what the magician is doing in his left hand cause his right hand is hypnotizing you just like his Hollywood star status did to the minions that marched trans-like into the voting booth.

The plan is, get it in place before the American people come out of their trance. Because if they do come out of it before he can get much of his agenda in place. He knows that we will be putting the brakes on his little power grab trip like a mom stops the eating of her hidden chocolate bar by the toddler of the house.

Stay tuned for what you can do to join the war on our borders, language, culture, and Constitution.

Oh Nobama to Raise Medical Research Spending from 4.8 billion to 429 Billion or More

May 6, 2009 in Spending it like it grows on trees by cvlambson

President O’Nobama publicly shared Specter’s concern about funding for research last week at the National Academy of Sciences. Obama bemoaned, On CBS’ “Face the Nation,”what he described as insufficient funding for overall scientific research, pledging to make a “historic” investment with the goal of directing 3 percent of the country’s GDP toward such research and development

I started wondering about what we were going to pay for O’Nobama’s increase in money spent on medical research. I checked the GDP and found that in 2008 our GDP was 14.3 trillion. What would he do? double the expenditure maybe? Tripling it would be way out there right?

How much would O’Nobama’s increase be?

14.3 trillion multiplied by .03.

that’s 429 billion. Isn’t it. That’s actually a 424 billion dollar increase from the Bush years. How can that be? Where is it going to come from? What are they thinking?

For a clue, realize that the defense budget is a little bigger than that right now. My guess is, that’s where he’s going to get it. Slash defense, put it in research. You thought our vulnerability was increased in the Clinton years. He makes Clinton look like a five star general.

How in the world does he continue to get away with this? It’s very simple, if you didn’t already know it. Nobody asks him questions.

He says it, it must be true, and no one in the media calls him on it. How else would you explain it when he is able to say, straight-faced that now is a time for fiscal responsibility when his projected debt will be more than the debt created  by all presidents from GW to GWB combined.

Heaven help us; we have Socialist in the White House.

Hello world!

I Join the Fight

My father always told me freedom must be won anew every generation. this is our time to win it. Freedom is not free. We can no longer sit by and simply vote every couple of years and expect our way of life to continue. It is being taken apart systematically at a pace never before witnessed in this civilization. I will attempt to show the reader those areas of our society that are being assaulted and encourage the reader to do more, that we may be able to halt the race to collectivism and put our nation back on a path that is based on the constitution and our founding father’s philosophies.

Progressivism has failed us, because it is based on flawed ideology. While trying to move the civilization forward, progressives have built there house on sand. I will over the next two years try to lay out that foundation and its flaws so that every citizen will have a clear picture of what needs to be done to right this sinking ship that was the greatest on earth.

What I say will not be popular. I am nobody and I am not trying to be popular. Thinkers with ideas not based on societal norms, since the beginning of time have been  shunned by those in charge. I am saddened that my conservative-Judeo-Christian philosophies are no longer the norm of the ruling class. They are; however, still the norm of the general public. Thus citizens like myself are labeled as the fringe by both the media and many of our leaders. The media have willingly embraced the cause of collectivism and there nationalization is unnecessary.

This is not a new situation. It has been in the works since Humanists decided that we needed public schools to educate children, because families were not as capable  as government minions.

I hope you will stick with us. Together, we must be together and fight this cultural and political war for the survival of the United States Of America.
