The problem with people of your ilk is that you don’t believe in us as a people. You think that you have to babysit us and that it is actually your responsibility to babysit us. Is smoking bad? Definitely? Is it your job to take care of my habits? do I not have freedom of choice?

Yes, yes, I know the rhetoric. It goes something like, Smokers get disease, get sick. people have to pay their bill. So we, the government, have the right, because the people want us to spend their money wisely, to dictate to them whether they should smoke or not.

Non-sequiter Senator Harkin. You assume it is your job. If the person gets sick, and cannot pay for their bill. they have family, friends, their churches that can help. You HAVE TIED THE HANDS OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

They now turn to you instead of eachother for help. This is not our way. You have turned us into robots and now the suffering will be great when you can’t take care of all of us. you fed the masses fish to eat, so they would vote for you. you should have held them responsible for learning how to fish.
